About the artist
Vic, a talented artist, spent the war years as a jig and tool designer for the production of the Hercules radial aircraft engine. In 1945 he joined the styling department of The Standard Motor Company at the personal invitation of Walter Belgrove. When Belgrove left the Company in 1955, Vic became head of the department. He was involved with detail styling aspects of the Triumph Roadster and made the bodywork assembly jigs for that car. He was also involved with the Vanguard, Bullet Roadster and Mayflower. Vic styled the Standard Eight and Tens of 1953 entirely himself and was also involved with styling detail on the TR2 sports car under Walter Belgrove. From 1955 Vic, as head of the styling department, was involved with the styling of all Standard Triumph cars until 1961 when he joined the Volvo company in Sweden.
