LBCarCo Chatter 03/25/2012

The Chatter this Week at LBCarCo (March 25, 2012)

New Orleans Revisited.

Trying to get this out to as soon as possible so doing in the truck on the way back from New Orleans. We wanted to let you know about the EXTENDED SALE. See the article just under article.

Back on track now as the show season starts up in full swing with three events in 3 weeks. Our first event was in New Orleans this weekend, one of our longest runs of the year for a single event. Event leaving from the Tampa Bar area the trek is about 12-13 hours. The scariest part is the cost of diesel and I think the highest we have ever paid at $4.23. Ya gotta sell a lot of key fobs to make it worth while I guess ;)

We left the Tampa Bay area a bit later than what we had expected on Friday since I wanted release our Friday order with our vendors. The ride was uneventful except for some heavy rain north in the Panhandle and we arrived at about 6:30ish only a half hour late for the Meet and Greet and there was still lots of great food left. The meet and greet lasted a couple of hours with introductions, door prizes and as I mentioned great food.

Up early for set up we set up our smaller display again and it worked a bit better this time but still have some fine tuning for it. Due to heavy rain during the week in the area, Delgado Community College where the show is held had to move the event to a parking lot on the other side of the student union, instead of the nice grass we have always been on. This worked out just fine for the 120ish cars though there was not as much shade as usual and registration and regalia set up inside the union n the comfort of generous air conditioning ;)

We were pretty busy almost all day long and in the sun it was super hot, but under our canopies it was not too bad. Our new LBCarCo signs worked out great in the breeze. I did get a chance to walk around and check out the cars and have included some pics in this article. The AC Ace turned out to be best of show after the lengthy awards ceremony which started about 4PM ended about 5:20ish. Thanks to the many folks that helped us finish packing after the awards and helped us to get on our way. We usually stay over night and get together with folks, but this year we had a function back in the TB area so had to leave on Saturday after packing. There is always next year though.

The perfect solution for your LBC. Similar to vintage after market consoles made by Amco some years ago, but with superior styling and quality. Black grained ABS thermoplastic base with leather covered armrest. A large storage compartment (great for maps, tire gauge, flashlight etc) is located under the armrest pad and a cup/change holder is located in the forward portion. Is your LBC a Star? Well we all know that each and every one of our little beauties is a star in our own eyes. Take a LOOK at our NEW gallery set up for our customers and friends to show off their pride and joys. Each week customers send me images to show me their newly done restoration (with parts from LBCarCo of course) or just to let me know what their LBC looks like. Now you can display YOUR LBC for everyone to see. We have had numerous requests for this feature over the years and now it is here. There are categories for most of the marques as well as an other British Category and of course a British Motorcycle category too.

This Issue of the Chatter StarCar is Philip Williams' 1949 MGYT. Fully restored, white with beige seating surfaces and black carpets.

We also have included a FOR SALE category that will allow your image and any notes on your LBC to be posted for 30 days from upload date. We really hope you like these features.

Once it is uploaded it will be reviewed and once approved will be released. This should only take a day or less. Have fun! Jan and I can't wait to see all your LBC's.

Spam or Not to Spam

In this day and age Spam is not a good thing as we all know, but at one time it was the main staple to feed our troops in the field. Somehow this word has now been attached to unwanted emails. Our Chatter can also be viewed as Spam by some folks that get it when we send a NewsFlash or Chatter. PLEASE if you decide you don't want our emails rather than choosing to block it click on the link at the top of the Chatter or NewsFlash that says:

"To unsubscribe from our mailing list, please click here."

You will be automatically removed from our list no questions asked. Some folks enjoy reading the Chatter, which includes tech tips, event listings and more, but if you decide to block our newsletters with your Spam Blocker this sends a Blacklist warning to many ISP's and can prevent other folks from receiving our information.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

LBCarCo Tech Tips - Each Chatter a New Reader Submitted Tech Tip!

Our Tech Tip this issues tip is from John Mandella. Thanks John ($20.00 will be credited to your LBCarCo account) Please contact us ASAP for further info.

A Bleeding Tip.

I needed to bleed the clutch cylinder on my MGB after replacing the clutch line. I had NEVER bled a hydraulic system before. After much research I bought a MityVac kit, but was NOT impressed the rubber fittings that are supposed to go over the bleed valve. I threw them across by workshop and bought a foot of clear tubing and some extra hose clamps. I clamped the tubing between the bleed valve outlet and the Mitivac. This created a good seal and had the extra benefit of keeping the tool connected to the car (really nice if you are working alone). Priming the system is good idea. I bought a cheapo, 79 cent syringe from a ranch/livery store (any store that sells saddles and horse stuff will suffice) and used the same “clear-tube connection” on the syringe before using the MityVac. Fast, easy, no fuss, no muss, no-pedal pumping, no broomsticks. Good solid clutch in 10 minutes.

Keep those TIPS and Humorous Stories coming, WE ALWAYS NEED THEM!

You can earn a $20 purchase credit for each Tip or Story that is published in our weekly mailing. Please send your tech tips or other submission to me at put the words Tech Tip or Story in the subject line please. If you don't currently have an account with LBCarCo you can still make a submission. We will provide your credit of $20.00 (only one credit may be used per order/shipment, not valid for subscriptions) any time you should purchase something online from LBCarCo. Humorous Story or an article about and picture of your first LBC you would like to share with our audience, drop me a note along with the submission. They should be no more than 500 to 1,000 words. If we use it we will provide you with a $20 LBCarCo purchase credit.

Tech Tips are a service of LBCarCo and our friends and customers. They are provided on a use at your own risk basis. These tech tips may be reprinted in club publications as long as credit is given to Little British Car Co, LTD along with reference to our website and the individual that provided the tip.
